Fabricated casino review sites
Some review portals never reviewed anything. They exist to rank in search, wear the costume of consumer journalism, and steer readers toward whichever gambling site pays the operator of the portal or belongs to them outright. Last revised 24 August 2026.
The model
A funnel dressed as a watchdog
The economics are simple. A page ranking for a phrase like best new casinos earns commission on every visitor who deposits through its links. An honest affiliate discloses that and still tests what it recommends. A fabricated portal skips the testing, invents the verdicts and sometimes promotes sites its own operators run. The worst cases we logged in 2026 gave top marks to unlicensed brands that later refused withdrawals, with the review still live while player complaints piled up elsewhere.
Signal 1
Reviewers who do not exist
Author pages carry stock style portraits, no history anywhere else on the web, and biographies listing a decade of industry experience on a domain registered this spring. Search the reviewer's name. A real gambling journalist leaves a trail, bylines on other outlets, a conference talk, a social profile older than the site. An invented one appears nowhere except the portal itself.
Signal 2
Ratings without a methodology
Genuine testers explain how a score is built, deposits made, withdrawal times measured, support contacted, and their numbers vary. Counterfeit portals publish walls of 4.8 and 4.9 ratings with no stated method, identical pros and cons paragraphs across dozens of brands, and complaint sections that are empty everywhere. Uniform enthusiasm is the tell. Real testing produces losers as well as winners.
Signal 3
Praise for casinos no register knows
The fastest check runs through the licence. Pick the portal's top recommendation and look the brand up in the register of the regulator the review names. In several August 2026 reader reports, glowing writeups pointed at domains no register listed at all, which means the portal endorsed unlicensed operations while claiming to vet for safety. One mismatch like that discredits the entire portal, since either it never checked or it did not care.
Bottom line
Verify the destination, whatever the referrer says
Treat every recommendation as a claim, and run the destination through our spotting guide before money moves. A portal that consistently steers readers to sites failing those checks belongs in a report of its own, and the registrar and host routes in our reporting guide apply to deceptive portals just as they do to fraudulent casinos.
